Brussel Sprouts with Almonds

Ingredients:

Brussel Sprouts - 2cups - cut into small pieces
Almonds - 1/2cup
Onion - 1
Jeera - 2tbsp
Olive oil
salt

1.In a pan add olive oil and then jeera.
2.Then add the onions and saute till golden brown.
3.Add the almonds.
4.Add the brussel sprouts and fry well for 10mins.
5.Add half cup water and cover with a lid and leave it for 20mins.
6.Mix well and then add salt.
7.Cook until the vegie is cooker well.

Raw Banana Poriyal

Ingredients:

Raw Banana - 1
Oil
Coconut - 1/2cup
Mustard
Urad dal
Salt

1.In a vessel add water and let it boil.
2.Cut the raw banana into 2 pieces and put it in the water and let it boil more till it becomes soft.
3.Peel off the skin and then grate the raw banana like carrot.
4.In a pan add little oil and add mustard and urad dal.
5.After it pops up add the grated banana and then fry well.
6.Then add the grated coconut and then keep it low flame for 5mins.

Beans Usuli

Ingredients:

Beans -2 cups
Channa dal -1 cup
Fennel Seeds - 1 tbsp
Red chilli - 1
Mustard
Oil
Salt

1.Cut the beans into small pieces.Microwave the beans for 5mins.It will be fully cooked.
2.Soak the channa dal for 1hr.
3.Grind the soaked channa dal,fennel and chilli to a coarse mixture without adding water.
4.Microwave the grinded mixture for 4mins.It will be soft and cooked without the raw smell.
5.In a pan add little oil,salt and then mustard.Add the beans and cooked channa dal and mix well.

Beets Green Masiyal

Ingredients:

Beets Green - a bunch
Onion - 1
Curd - 1/2cup
Green chilli - 1
Oil
Salt

1.Grind the curd and green chilli and keep aside.
2.In a pan add little oil and then add the beet green and cook well.
3.Add salt and then the grinded mixture.
4.Mix well and cook for 10mins in low flame.

Soy beans and Carrot Poriyal

Ingredients:

Soy Beans - 1/2cup
Carrot - 1/2 cup
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1tbsp
Onion - 1
Salt
Oil

1.Cook the soy beans in boiling water and keep aside.
2.Grate the carrot.
3.In a pan add little oil and the saute the onions till golden brown.
4.Add the ginger garlic paste,salt and then carrot and cook it.
5.Add the beans at last and mix well.

Pumpkin Poriyal

Ingredients:

Pumpin - Cut to small pieces - 1 cup
Onion- 1
Jaggery - small ball
Coconut - 1/4cup scrappings
Salt
Oil

1. Cut the pumpkin into small pieces.
2. In a pan add little oil and add the onions to the pan and saute well.
3. Add salt and then add the pumpkin and cook well until its mushy.
4. Add the jaggery ball and then the coconut scappings and mix well.
5. Cover with the lid and leave it for 5mins and serve hot.

Sunday Special

Today we had plans to go out and eat but it was raining heavily so could not go out. So I started to cook and was thinking wat to make. Thought of making a different kind of a starter with sweet potato and did the veggie patties. Then made pasta for me and my hubby as usual ate sambar rice.
Generally we add potatoes but for a change i used sweet potato. It was very nice.

Veg Patties:
Ingredients:

Sweet potato - cooked - 1/2 cup
Carrot,Peas,cauliflower - cooked - 1 cup
Salt
Oil
Flour

1. Mash all the veggies and mix them well with salt.
2. Make small balls out of the mixture.
3. In  a plate put some flour and dip the small balls and keep it.
4. In a skillet add some oil and heat it.
5. Put one by one the floured veg balls and fry them. I dint want to deep fry the vegies. So i used a skillet and added little oil around it and fried.
6. Fry them until golden brown and serve them with tomato sauce.
It was yummy..We both liked it very much.

Pasta:
  I had plenty of the veggie mixture.so what i did is i used them for my pasta. 

Ingredients:
Flour - 1tbsp
Pasta - whole wheat
oil
Salt
Milk - non fat(can use of your choice) - 8tbsp

1.Cook the pasta as per the pack instructions.
2.Heat a pan and add little oil
3. Add the flour and keep stirring.
4. Add the milk slowly so that no lumps are formed.
5. Keep stirring until it becomes thick.
6. Add the veggie mixture and mix well.
7. Add the cooked pasta and mix evenly so that the gravy is blended 
all over the pasta.
8. Cook for another 5mins in low heat.

Your creamy pasta is ready !!


Brocolli Pepper Fry:

Brocolli - 1 cup
Black Pepper - 1 tbsp
Onion - 1
Tomato - 1
Salt
Oil
1. Cut the brocolli into florets and microwave for 4mins.
2. In a pan heat little oil and add the onions and saute till golden brown.
3. Add the tomatoes and salt and cook well .
4. Add the cooked brocolli and mix well.
5. Add the grounded black peper and cook until the raw smell goes.

Carrot Poriyal :
 Ingredients:

Carrot - 2cups - Grated
Onion - 1
Mustard
Urad Dal
Coconut Scrapping - 1/2 cup

1. Grate the carrot.
2. Heat the oil in a pan and add the mustard and urad dal.
3. Add the onions to the pan
 and saute till golden brown.
4. Add the grated carrot to the
 pan. 
5. Cook it for few minutes 
and add the coconut scrap
pings and mix well.

Beets Green Poriyal

I never knew that the leaves of beets can be cooked. Everytime I buy beets i used to just throw the greens in it. I read somewhere that it can be cooked. So I just thought of trying to make a poriyal with it. Here it is the receipe.

Ingredients:

Beet leaves - a bunch
Coconut Scrapped
Mustard
Urad dal
Oil
Salt

1. Wash the leaves twice nicely.
2. Cut the leaves into small pieces.
3. Heat the pan with oil and add mustard and Urad dal.
5. Add the beet leaves and cook until they become soft.
6. After it is cooked add the coconut scrappings.

It was delicious. We really liked it a lot.

Beets Poriyal

Ingredients:

Beets - 2cups
Onion - 1
Mustard
Urad Dal
Coconut Scrapping - 1/2 cup

1. Grate the beets.
2. Heat the oil in a pan and add the mustard and urad dal.
3. Add the onions to the pan and saute till golden brown.
4. Add the grated beets to the pan. 
5. Cook it for few minutes and add the coconut scrappings and mix well.

Carrot-Beans Poriyal


Ingredients:
Carrot  - 1 cup chopped  or Grated
Beans - 1 cup
Onion - 1/2
Mustard
Oil
Coconut grated - 1/2 cup(optional)
Salt


1. Wash the chopped Carrot and beans.
2. Heat the pan with little oil and put the mustards seeds.
3. Add the onions a
nd saute for a while until golden brown.
4. Add the Carrot and beansand cook till it becomes so
ft. ( Can add water if you want for it to cook or can c
lose with a lid the pan)
5. Add the grated coc
onut and fry for a minute.

Cabbage Poriyal

Cabbage is a very healthy vegetable which is liked by people all over the world.

Ingredients:
Cabbage - 2 cups chopped
Onion - 1/2
Mustard
Oil
Coconut grated - 1/2 cup
Salt


1. Wash the chopped cabbage and set aside.
2. Heat the pan with little oil and put the mustards seeds.
3. Add the onions and saute for a while until golden brown.
4. Add the cabbage and cook till it becomes soft. ( Can add water if you want for it to cook or can close with a lid the pan)
5. Add the grated coconut and fry for a minute.
