Oats Dosai




This is a very simple and healthy dosai. Today I made this for breakfast. I am sending this to Sri's Breakfast event and Padma's Dosa event.

Ingredients:

Oats - 2cups
Dosai Batter - 2cups
Onion - 1
red chilli- 2
Salt

1.Mix all the ingredients.
2.Add water and make it into a batter like the dosa batter.
3.Make dosai and serve hot.

Green Gram Dal Dosai



This is new try since I dint have Urad dal at home for making dosai.Generally its dosai or idly we eat for breakfast and dinner. Specifically my husband cannot be without eating dosai.When I checked that the batter was over I thought i will soak some for making. But then realised that I dint have Urad dal. Then thought why not try it with Green gram dal and made this. We both liked it.My husband generally doesnt try eating new things but he liked it.

I am sending this to the Breakfast Series Event started by Sri and Padma's Dosa Event.


Ingredients:

Green Gram Dal -1 cup
Idly Rice - 1cup
Onion - 1
Carrot - 1/2cup
coriander - chopped - 1/cup

1.Soak the dal and rice seperately for 4hrs.
2.First grind the dal and shift to a vessel.
3.Then grind the rice and mix with the dal.
4.Add salt and let it ferment.I kept it for around 6hrs or so.
5.Chop the onion,coriander and carrot and mix in the batter..
6.Heat the dosa pan and make dosas.

We had with tomato chutney.

Peas and Carrot Dosa


Ingredients:

Dosa Batter - 2cups
Carrot - 1/2cup
Peas - 1/2cup
Chilli and Coriander powder- 1/2tbsp each
Onion - 1
Tomato - 1
Salt
Oil

1.In a pan add little oil and saute onion until golden brown.
2.Add tomato and then Chilli and Coriander powder.
3.Saute well and then add carrot and peas.
4.Cover with a lid and let it stand for 10mins.
5.Cook well and keep aside.
6.In a dosa pan spread the batter and then add the carrot and peas mixture and add oil around the dosa.

Onion and Pepper Dosai

Ingredients:

Dosa Batter - 2 cups
Onion - 1
Jalapeno Pepper - 2
Oil

1.Chop the onion and peppers finely.
2.In a dosai tawa add the batter and spread to make a thick round shape.
3.Sprinkle the Onion and peppers on top of it.
4.Add oil on top and sides and cook well.

We had with tomato and peanut thovayal.

Rava Dosai

Ingredients:

Rava - 1 cup
Rice flour - 1/2 cup
Curd - 1 cup
Onion - 1
Green chilli - 1
Mustard 
Urad and channa dal 
Oil
Salt

1.In a pan add little oil and mustard,urad and channa dal.Then add the rava and fry for few mins.
2.In a bowl add the fried rava,rice flour,salt,onion,chilli and curd.
3.Mix well.Add water if the batter is very thick.
3.Heat the dosa tawa and pour the batter from around and do not spread it with the spoon but just fill where ever the batter is not there.
4.Add oil on the sides and then cook both sides.

Serve with any chutney of your choice.

Mysore Masala Dosa

For making the masala:

Cooked Potato - 4
Onions - 1
Tomato - 1
Turmeri Powder - 1/4tbsp
Chilli Powder - 1/2 tbsp
Mustard
Channa Dal
Salt
Oil

1.  Peel the skin of the potato and cook it in a pressure cooker.
2. Mash the potatoes and keep it aside.
3. Heat the pan with oil. Add the channa dal and mustard.
4. Add onions and saute till golden brown. Then add tomato and let it cook for 5mins.
5. Add turmeric and chilli powder. 
6. Now add the mashed potatoes to the pan.
7. Let it cool till the raw smell of the spices go away. Can add water for it to cook well.

Making Dosai:

Ingredients:

Dosa Batter - 2 cups
MTR CurryPowder or just Chilli powder - 1 tbsp
Oil

1.In the griddle spread the dosa batter and then immediately sprinkle the curry powder.
2.Add oil around the sides and then spread the potato masala and then let it cook properly.Because we wont shift to the other side for it to cook.

Brocolli Dosai

Ingredients:

Brocolli - 1
Dosa Batter
Sun dried tomatoes - few
Oil
Salt

1.In a pan add little oil. Add the sun dried tomatoes.
2. Saute for few mins and then add the brocolli and mix well. Cook until the brocoli becomes tender and put it in a bowl.
3.Take 1cup of dosa batter and mix it in the brocolli mix.Mix it well.
4. In a dosa pan spread the batter and put oil in the sides of the batter and cook.Turn to the other side and cook it.

It was yummy. I had it with onion chutney.

Adai ( Dal Dosa)

Ingredients: 

For Grinding
1. Rice - 1 cup2. Toor dal - 1/2 cup
3. Channa Dal - 1/2 cup
4.Red chillies - 2( depending on your spice level)
5. Fennel Seeds - 1 tble spoon
6.Garlic - 2 cloves
Garnish:

7.Onion - 1
8.Green chilli - 29.Coriander leaves
10.Can add little chilli powder if needed it spicy.

Method:
1. Soak rice and the dals seperately for 4hrs.
2. Grind rice,dal(toor and channa), and all the ingredients to make a coarse batter.
3. Chop onions,coriander leaves and chillies and mix them in the dosa batter.
4. Heat the pan and spread the dosa batter and wait until it cooks and serve them hot with coconut chutney.

Onion and Curry powder Oothapam.

Ingredients:
Dosa Batter
Onion - 1
Curry Powder from MTR - 1/2 tbsp

1. Heat the dosa pan.
2. Spread the dosa batter on the pan. Spread the onion and curry powder on the spreaded
 dosa batter.
3. Put some oil on the sides of
 the dosa to make the sides crisper.

Egg Dosai

Egg dosai is my hubby's favourite. Everyone in my in-laws house likes it. So even I have started to make this. :)

Dosa Batter
Egg - 1

Can use beaters as well for egg.

Spread the dpsa batter on the tawa. Immediately pour the egg on top of it. Sprinkle some oil on top of it and allow it to cook.

After one side is cooked change to the other side and cook it.

Masala Dosai

Ingredients:

Potato Masala - 1/2 cup(Refer here for the procedure)
Dosa Batter
Oil

Dosa Batter:

1 cup - idly rice
1/2 cup - Ulundhu(Urad Dal)
2tbsp - fenugreek

1. Soak the rice and Urad dal for about 4 hours.
2. Fenugreek and urad can be combined together and soaked.
3. Grind the mixture of urad dal and fenugreek in a grinder or mixer.
(I have been making the batter using mixie)
4. Add water depending on the consistency. Don't make it watery.
5. Seperately grind the rice and mix the dal batter with the rice mixture.
6. Add salt and mix the contents evenly.
7. The mixture needs to be prepared overnight and dosa or idly can be made on the next day morning.

Making Dosai:

1. Heat the dosa pan and put little oil.
2. Take a batter and spread the batter evenly in a round manner.
3. After it becomes little brown spread the potato masala on one side of the dosa and close from the other side.
4. Ghee can be added to make the dosai more delicious.

It can be served with coconut chutney.

Onion Oothappam



Ingredients:
Dosa Batter
Onion - 1
Corinder - Few leaves

1. Heat the dosa pan.
2. Spread the dosa batter on the pan. Spread the onion and coriander leaves on the spreaded dosa batter.
3. Put some oil on the sides of the dosa to make the sides crisper.


Podi Dosai



Podi dosai is one of my brother's favourite. He has always wanted me to make podi dosai for him.

Here is the receipe for making podi dosai.

Ingredients:
