Chow Chow Kootu

Ingredients:

Chow chow - 1 - peeled and cut into small pieces
Channa dal - 1/2cup
Moong dal - 1/4th cup
Oil
Scrapped coconut - 3tbsp
Onion
Salt
Sesame seeds - 1tsp
mustard
1.Pressure cook chow chow,moong and channa dal for 1 whistle.
2.In a pan add little oil and then mustard.After it pops add the onion and saute.
3.Then add the sesame seeds and then the cooked mixture.
4.Add the scrapped coconut mix well .Add salt and then cook until its not watery.
Serve hot with plain rice !!

Snake Gourd Kootu

Its been a while since I ate this. I saw in the Indian stores and I immediately wanted to make kootu with it.

Ingredients:

Snake Gourd - 1 cup
Moong dal - 1 cup
Chilli and Coriander powder - 1/2tbsp each
Salt
Oil
Cilantro leaves

1. Pressure cook the moong dal and keep it.
2. Cut the snake gourd into small pieces after removing the seeds in the middle.
3. In a pan add little oil and add the snake gourd and salt and saute well.
4. It should be cooked and then add the moong dal.
5. Close the pan with a lid and let it cook.
6. After its half cooked add the chilli and coriander powder.
7. Mix well and add the cooked moong dal and let it cook for 5mins.
8. If you want the kootu to be thick do not add water else you can add water.
9.Serve hot some cilantro leaves on top.

Carrot Kootu



Ingredients:
Carrot - Cooked - 1 cup
Chana Dal - Cooked - 1/2 cup
Garlic - 1 
Mustard
Oil

1. Cut the carrot into small cubes.
2. In a pressure cooked add the Carrot and 1/2 cup channa dal together and cook it for 1 whistle.
3.In a pan add oil and mustard and garlic.
4. Add the cooked mixture and mix well.
5. cook for 5mins and serve hot.
